Guochuang Hi-Tech Material Flags Higher Raw Material Costs Amid Rising Asphalt Prices

Hubei Guochuang Hi-Tech Material Co.,Ltd. (002377.SZ) has issued a statement noting that its share price surged by a cumulative deviation of 22.31% over two consecutive trading days (September 9 and 10, 2026), meeting the criteria for abnormal trading activity as defined by the Shenzhen Stock Exchange's trading rules.

The company has observed that recent increases in international crude oil prices have driven up asphalt prices, drawing heightened market attention to its asphalt operations. Its principal business involves the research, development, production, and sale of pavement-grade asphalt products, with petroleum asphalt serving as the key raw material.

The procurement cost of petroleum asphalt is closely linked to global crude oil prices, domestic refining capacity, and market supply-demand dynamics. Consequently, an uptick in petroleum asphalt prices will correspondingly raise the company's raw material procurement expenses.

However, adjustments to its product selling prices are influenced by downstream clients' pricing mechanisms and road construction demand, which may result in a lag in passing higher costs through to end-market prices. In the most recent fiscal year, the gross margin for its asphalt business stood at a low 4.54%. Should the pricing adjustment mechanism fail to keep pace with rising raw material costs, it could heighten difficulties in cost control and amplify operational risks.
