On September 6, financial market sources reported that, in line with the directives of the Party Central Committee and the State Council to replenish core Tier-1 capital for major state-owned commercial banks, Agricultural Bank Of China Limited announced its plan to issue A-shares to specific investors on the same date in 2026. The offering targets the Ministry of Finance of the People's Republic of China, the China National Tobacco Corporation, and its affiliated subsidiaries, aiming to raise no more than RMB 160 billion in total. After deducting issuance costs, the entire proceeds will be allocated to bolster core Tier-1 capital, with the final fundraising amount subject to regulatory approval of the issuance scheme.

In response, Agricultural Bank Of China Limited stated that this capital replenishment underscores the nation's steadfast support for its long-term development, reflecting the high confidence of the subscribing shareholders—the Ministry of Finance and the China National Tobacco Corporation—in the bank's operational strength and growth potential. The issuance is expected to strengthen the bank's capital base and operational resilience, enabling it to better fulfill its role as a key pillar in serving the real economy and a stabilizer in maintaining financial stability.
