Digital Economy and Green Development Serve as Twin Engines

Among the 11 newly established professions, five fall within the digital category, with cutting-edge fields such as artificial intelligence, digital modeling, satellite navigation, and intelligent operations taking center stage. As AI continues its rapid evolution, the role of embodied intelligent robot application technician has drawn particular attention. Unlike traditional industrial robot maintenance jobs, this new role focuses on the next generation of perceptive, interactive, and autonomously operating robots. Hydrogen energy, a key direction for clean energy development, now includes two new roles: hydrogen fuel cell manufacturing technicians and water electrolysis hydrogen production operators. As China's hydrogen industry supply chain matures and equipment enters large-scale production, these two roles precisely align with current industrial demand. The water electrolysis hydrogen production operator focuses on the operation of green hydrogen equipment, process control, and maintenance to ensure affordable and scalable production. These professionals oversee system monitoring, load balancing, storage management, and fault resolution to ensure efficient, stable, and secure grid integration of decentralized renewable energy sources, establishing them as core technical personnel for the rollout of next-generation power infrastructure.

Recent graduates pick up digital tools quickly but often lack hands-on experience; manufacturing workers transitioning careers have technical know-how and discipline but need digital skills and cross-industry certifications; and those re-entering the workforce face limited information, high training costs, and low confidence. Overcome these hurdles will require government efforts to reduce information asymmetries and training costs, businesses to offer short-term training and apprenticeship models, and individuals to demonstrate their capabilities through projects, certifications, and tangible results.
