At the 2026 Inclusion·Bund Conference plaza on the evening of September 10, Wang Jian, Director of the Zhejiang Lab and founder of Alibaba Cloud, shared his thoughts on sustainable development and the younger generation. He emphasized that the future focus of artificial intelligence development should be expanded to the scale of cities, proposing that the "crown of artificial intelligence—urban intelligence" could achieve sustainable development goals with just 10% of resources.

Wang Jian also expressed that while the AI era brings numerous challenges, young people who "run in the rain without an umbrella" will devise new solutions, because they approach their pursuits with genuine passion. He further noted, "With artificial intelligence, humanity will enjoy a better life, yet our consumption of natural resources will be greatly reduced. We can allocate more resources to innovation and pursue things we previously wanted to do but lacked the opportunity."

He also pointed out, "If we invest one kilowatt-hour of electricity in AI technology, the world might save ten kilowatt-hours elsewhere. In fact, the most critical role of artificial intelligence is to reduce our resource consumption." Addressing whether AI could replace humans, Wang Jian stressed, "Artificial intelligence neither can, nor should, replace humans. When we talk about AI replacing people today, we are merely observing it taking over tasks we were once familiar with. Throughout human development, every new invention has helped humanity discover its own boundaries and better understand itself."
