On September 7, 2026, the Bitcoin network achieved its fourth-highest daily transaction volume ever recorded, a milestone confirmed by Galaxy Research that underscores a notable surge in on-chain activity intensity.

According to data compiled by Woofun AI, the total number of confirmed transactions on that day reached 893,391. In terms of network engagement, active addresses accounted for over 99% of the total, with transaction activity climbing 23.4% from previous levels, and certain timeframes witnessing spikes as high as 102.6%.

Structurally, this surge was not evenly distributed but instead displayed a highly concentrated pattern. Looking at historical benchmarks for context, on April 23, 2024, Bitcoin's daily transaction count stood at 862,979, with 651,655 transactions occurring on that specific day, reflecting a year-over-year increase of 18%. That same day, the total transaction volume reached 927,010, of which 910,083 were categorized as daily transactions.

It is worth noting that micro-transfers valued at under 0.01 BTC still represented 80% of all transactions, indicating that high-frequency interactions at the micro level continue to be the primary driver of network load. Regarding network costs and the current ecosystem state, data from Blockchain.com shows that the number of active addresses has declined by 10.7%, currently sitting at approximately 415,000.

Associated transaction fees totaled $3.38 billion, with fees accounting for 8.1% of that figure, specifically amounting to $191,073. The average transaction fee was approximately 0.0000024 BTC, equivalent to around $0.19, while the average cost per transaction stood at $34.69. Furthermore, the presence of protocols such as Ordinals, Runes, and various other specialized blockchain applications has further complicated the existing fee structure.
