On the morning of September 8th, strong winds swept through the cornfield south of Toubao Community in the old town area, where harvesters from Changxing Agricultural Machinery Cooperative were busy gathering crops from a 50-acre test plot. "Today, the estimated yield for these 50 acres is over 1,900 jin per acre, which sets a promising tone for this autumn's harvest," said a representative on-site, marking the official start of the cooperative's 8,000-acre corn harvesting operation this season.

The 50-acre plot in Toubao Community represents a collaborative venture between the cooperative and a seed company based in Anhui Province. "This is our joint test field. We've invested considerable effort since planting began this summer. We've deployed two harvesters today, working simultaneously to cut and weigh the crop. By midday, we should have the final yield per acre statistics," explained Guo Changxing.

This particular cornfield drew attention from large-scale farmers in neighboring townships. Li Haitao, who manages over 500 acres in Dongcun Township, arrived early at the site. "I'm here to lend a hand to Changxing and also to personally assess this variety's performance. I've used seeds from the same company on my land, and I'd like to discuss a few cultivation issues that have come up," Li Haitao noted.

At the cooperative's warehouse in Guojia Village, the morning's harvest was brought in for weighing without delay. The first truckload tipped the scales at 14 tons, a solid start. By the afternoon, the entire test plot was harvested, yielding a total of 48 tons of corn. This translates to an impressive average output of 1,920 jin per acre across the 50-acre field.

Beyond this test plot, Changxing Agricultural Machinery Cooperative has planted more than 8,000 acres of corn in the old town area this year. With the eighth lunar month approaching, the countdown to the full autumn corn harvest has begun. Based on historical patterns, continuous rainfall may occur before the Mid-Autumn Festival. To prepare, the cooperative has secured 18 harvesters and 8,000 tons of storage capacity, ensuring they're fully equipped for any conditions.

"We're hoping this test field brings good fortune and that this year's autumn harvest is safe and bountiful," Guo Changxing added.
