At a State Council Information Office press conference on September 10, held under the "15th Five-Year Plan Kickoff" series, regulators detailed their strategy for advancing financial sector development and building a stronger financial system.
The session featured remarks from National Financial Regulatory Administration Deputy Director Cong Lin, who highlighted plans to adopt comprehensive measures to foster a healthy industry environment. He stressed the importance of guiding financial institutions to establish sound principles regarding performance, operations, achievements, and risk management, while abandoning a fixation on scale growth.
According to Cong Lin, the sector must pivot from chasing speed and size toward a focus on quality and efficiency, strengthening core competitiveness in the process. He underscored that authorities will intensify efforts to tackle destructive "price wars," illegal rebate schemes, and practices involving exorbitant interest rates with high commissions, ensuring fairer market conduct across the board.
