In July, the Langzhong Fudi Hotel, operated collectively by the Beilangzhong village in Zhaoquanying Town, completed a comprehensive upgrade and officially reopened its doors. Visitors to Beilangzhong can now rest and dine here, while villagers gain new employment opportunities right at their doorstep. The hotel also serves as a vibrant showcase for the village's self-produced agricultural goods, creating a direct "from farm to table" connection.
When our reporter arrived at the hotel, Head Chef Cao Jiaqi was busy preparing a paddlefish, skillfully cutting it to create the signature dish: Lychee-Glazed Paddlefish. The fish, sourced from Zhaoquanying Town's innovative aquaponics base, is cooked with fresh lychees. The naturally delicate and tender fish, with its inherent sweetness, is complemented by the fragrant fruit and a secret sauce, resulting in a crispy exterior and a moist, succulent interior. Chef Cao revealed that they are currently developing a "One Fish, Three Ways, Seven-Flavor Sturgeon Feast," which will utilize three different cooking techniques on a single fish to offer seven distinct flavor experiences. Meanwhile, the aroma of braised pork and steaming mantou buns fills the air, promising a hearty meal.
"Our paddlefish is a local specialty. The braised pork comes from pigs raised right here in Beilangzhong, the flour for our buns is milled from Beilangzhong-brand wheat, and all our vegetables are grown at our local planting base," said Chef Cao, emphasizing their commitment to quality. "We simply use the freshest, best local ingredients from our own fields."
The journey from field to table is less than one kilometer. The hotel is located in the heart of Beilangzhong's agricultural, cultural, and tourism district, adjacent to the Beilangzhong Garden Hui, vegetable planting base, farming park, food distribution hub, and camping ground. Visitors weary from exploring the flower fields can step in for a taste of local cuisine, and after their meal, continue their village exploration. As a village-operated establishment, the hotel maintains strict quality control over its locally sourced ingredients while offering affordable prices.
"The hotel not only creates jobs for our villagers but also provides a crucial window for our high-quality agricultural and sideline products to reach the broader market," said Shi Jinpeng, Deputy General Manager of Beilangzhong Agricultural, Industrial, and Commercial Group. "Its operation also enriches our village's tourism offerings. When tourists spend a full day here, they deserve a proper dining experience." The hotel features a mix of standard tables, private rooms, and a banquet hall capable of seating 200 guests.
Its deeper value lies in its integrated model: wheat grown by the village is milled and steamed into buns, fish raised locally becomes a signature dish, and vegetables from their own fields are served on guest tables. This village-operated hotel effectively connects production and sales, links agriculture with tourism, and binds together local employment with community development.
In March, the Zhaoquanying Town Cultural and Tourism Industry Alliance was officially launched, with the Langzhong Fudi Hotel as a key member. It now serves as a vital link in the village's agricultural-tourism chain. From flower fields to orchards, from greenhouse nurseries to a rustic country hotel, a complete rural leisure route is taking shape. What makes the hotel truly appealing is its authenticity - the ingredients are local, the staff are villagers, and the dishes are home-style, all unified under the "Beilangzhong" brand. Rural revitalization requires significant projects and investment, but it also genuinely needs these small, ground-up initiatives that benefit local residents and are deeply rooted in the community.
