Shares of Polestar Automotive fell after the company cut its volume guidance for the full year and said its forced exit from the U.S. market by the Trump administration had a roughly $130 million impact.

Shares were down 7.9% to $11.04 in premarket trading on Thursday. The stock closed Wednesday down 1.1% at $11.99, having fallen 44% this year.

The Chinese-owned electric-vehicle manufacturer said it expects volume growth in the low-to-mid-single digits in 2026, below its previous view of low-double-digit volume growth. The guidance cut was driven by volatile and competitive conditions in the market, Polestar said.

The company also said it has implemented restructuring actions related to its employees, dealers, and other commercial arrangements in the U.S., after it was blocked from selling new vehicles by the U.S. Commerce Department.

Polestar said it plans to continue selling older models in the U.S. and supporting its U.S. customers. It said the Commerce Department's decision led to negative adjustments to its operating loss for the first half of the year of around $130 million.

Further negative adjustments related to the U.S. restructuring are expected in future periods, Polestar said.

The company had told its U.S. dealers that it was blindsided by the Commerce Department's decision, The Wall Street Journal reported last month.

Polestar on Thursday reported a second-quarter loss of $459 million, compared with a loss of $1.03 billion a year earlier.

Revenue fell 8.1% to $727 million, as retail sales units fell 4% to 17,296.
