Nokia (NOK) launched Cognitive Operations, a platform combining mission-critical communications, edge computing and AI for industries such as mining, public safety and defense, the company said on Thursday.

The company said the platform uses its Cognitive Edge Node, a rugged network and computing system designed to bring AI processing to vehicles and remote sites.

Nokia is launching three applications for mining, emergency services and defense, the company said, adding that the mining solution is available for on-premises and cloud deployment through Microsoft Azure Marketplace.

For emergency services, response vehicles can act as network and computing nodes, sharing live incident information and video analysis, the company said.
