Pinterest has built a new AI layer using Nvidia's technology, which will allow the social-media platform to build AI products without creating custom infrastructure for each one.

Pinterest plans to offer more products that rely on both images and language, including visual search, content understanding and safety systems.

The new layer is built on Nvidia's accelerated computing platform with Nvidia Blackwell GPUs, Nvidia Dynamo and Pinterest's own visual embeddings.

Pinterest uses its 80 billion or more monthly searches to create signals for AI-powered discovery and shopping. Pinterest Assistant, an AI shopping agent, can run 25 times more visual context per request.

In testing, Pinterest measured faster response startup and overall latency when using precomputed visual representations instead of repeatedly processing raw images.

The new layer builds on five years of collaboration between Pinterest and Nvidia across more than 14,000 GPUs.
